Love Letter to Flex 4 and Flash Builder

Dear Flex 4 / Flash Builder,

I just wanted to tell you that I think you're amazing.  I know we just recently met, but I can't stop thinking about you.  You're not like the others (Flex 2 and Flex 3).  There's something different about you.  Your component model is brilliant.  Your implementation of declarative drawing is beautiful.  Your data service wizards are exquisite.  Your inline documentation is ingenious.  I could go on and on, but it suffices me to say I LOVE YOU.  I can't imagine my (work) life without you.  I would be lost without you.  Please be mine forever.

Sincerely,

Bryan

All I know is that my wife walked in to find me kissing the screen with this post on it. AWK-WAARD!

Flex 4 (or at least the people who built it) loves you too, Bryan.
Hey, that's a great tagline: “It's OK, Flex 4 loves you too.”

    Thanks for the feedback.

Ely, you guys really hit it out of the park with this release. I can't say enough good things about it. It's so good we're using the prerelease builds for all production. It's mind boggling how much more efficiently our team is working now. Next time you're in Austin or I'm wherever you are (San Jose?) I owe you a meal, a drink and whatever else you want.

HAHA… I think Flex 4/Flashbuilder has quite a few suitors so you may have to get in line

But I was the first one to write a love letter. That's got to count for something, right?

That's a deal, Bryan. Most of the flex team is in San Francisco, although we have people in Boston, India, and Virginia, among others.

Incidentally, with the amount of experience you're getting with F4, I'd love to hear how it's _not_ working for you as well. Feel free to send me an email directly, if you have any thoughts.

We're out in the valley often. I'll hit you up the next time I know I'll be out.

So far, the bulk of my complaints are known bugs I've seen in Jira, but I will let you know if we come across things we don't like. So far, so good.

It's getting better every day. I think we'll hit gold master status soon.

I found this post when I searched “I love flex4″ on Google. Add me (and our entire team) to the list of people who LOVE Flex 4.

The more I use it the more I love it and the more I despise Flex 3.

Well, depends on what you compare it to – obviously 4 will be better than 3, because it adds to it, while not taking anything away… most of us walked into Flex bloodied and distraught with writing an unhealthy amount of JavaScript code and making it work in a dozen different versions of different browsers, and this was when there was no JQuery.. Flex 4, as awesome as it is, Flex 3 has its place in our hearts and minds!
