Love Letter to Flex 4 and Flash Builder

Share

Dear Flex 4 / Flash Builder,

I just wanted to tell you that I think you're amazing.  I know we just recently met, but I can't stop thinking about you.  You're not like the others (Flex 2 and Flex 3).  There's something different about you.  Your component model is brilliant.  Your implementation of declarative drawing is beautiful.  Your data service wizards are exquisite.  Your inline documentation is ingenious.  I could go on and on, but it suffices me to say I LOVE YOU.  I can't imagine my (work) life without you.  I would be lost without you.  Please be mine forever.

Sincerely,

Bryan

  • Nice one Bryan..

    I too loved it.. :)

    Keep going..

You love life is in beta though... hope you make it to final soon.
  • It's getting better every day. I think we'll hit gold master status soon.

HAHA... I think Flex 4/Flashbuilder has quite a few suitors so you may have to get in line
  • But I was the first one to write a love letter. That's got to count for something, right?
  • John Knack
And what your imaginary girlfriend think of this post?
  • My wife doesn't know and I hope she doesn't find out ;)
  • All I know is that my wife walked in to find me kissing the screen with this post on it. AWK-WAARD!

Flex 4 (or at least the people who built it) loves you too, Bryan.
Hey, that's a great tagline: "It's OK, Flex 4 loves you too."

    Thanks for the feedback.
    Ely Greenfield.

  • Ely, you guys really hit it out of the park with this release. I can't say enough good things about it. It's so good we're using the prerelease builds for all production. It's mind boggling how much more efficiently our team is working now. Next time you're in Austin or I'm wherever you are (San Jose?) I owe you a meal, a drink and whatever else you want.
  • That's a deal, Bryan. Most of the flex team is in San Francisco, although we have people in Boston, India, and Virginia, among others.

Incidentally, with the amount of experience you're getting with F4, I'd love to hear how it's _not_ working for you as well. Feel free to send me an email directly, if you have any thoughts.
