Using Street View in Maps on iPhone OS 2.2

Street View on Map
I updated my iPhone to OS 2.2 this morning fully expecting to open Maps app and see a "Street View" button somewhere after it pin-pointed my location. This did not happen and I assumed that the feature did not work or that it was not available in my area. It turns out I was wrong about both. Here's how you get street view:

First, do a search in Maps app.

Next, click on one of the result pins. If you see an orange "person" icon next to the location name, click it. This indicates street view availability.

Clicking the icon takes you to street view, which is in landscape of course.Street View

  • Thank you very much.
I have read about a new release of the iPhone operating system but I hadn't trused myself to upgrate my OS.In fact I feared not succeeding to get it running and then I would have had nothing working. After that hesitation I did thing. The release is simply awesome especially the street view one.
I still have a problem that I could only have the street view option when I'm in an area where that street view is available from google. That is not very helpful for travelling by car.

Thank you this was very helpful. I've owned an iPhone since the day they came out and after updating to 2.2 and not seeing a streetview button in the map app thought that street view was only available to iPhone 3G and not on my first generation iPhone. Ha.
Thank you so much for sharing this information.
  • @Slick Glad I could help.
