Update 2: I should be able to fairly easily convert this to a simple Flex app. I'll do that when I get a chance and update this post with the link.

I saw several posts today about a promising new URL shortening service called bit.ly, which looks like it could quickly replace some, most or all of the category incumbents. Later, I saw a post by Ryan Stewart, where he created an AIR application upon which a user could drag a URL and get back the bit.ly shortened url. I downloaded the code from his svn and banged on it for an hour or so and came up with a new app that will not only shorten a url, but also display tracking data of a bit.ly shortened url. I've messaged Ryan to make sure it's cool for me to post the code and will do so if and when I get the go ahead.
